Few industries since the mid 1990's have seen such dramatic paradigm shifts in strategic direction, products offered and facility design as hospitals and medical centers. Gone are the days of the sterile interior décor, “bed-days” accounting and captive territories to be replaced with hospitality décor, outpatient services and hospital systems targeting each others' "territories" with competing facilities.
An effective hospital wayfinding signage is a key component of customer satisfaction because it is a prime interface with visitors and patient families. Inside, the hospital sign system must complement the hospitality décor and provide a wayfinding solution that effectively makes visitors feel at home. At the same time, the hospital signage system must be flexible enough to keep up with rapid change and, of course, do it with ever tightening budgets - especially in uncertain times.
